Guided by Wayne Hill
First day Wayne called in a big 6x6 bull; he was coming in, but
I got impatient and shot too early and missed three shots within
the first ten minutes. Wayne called him back to within 35 yards;
he stayed behind the brush. I shot one more time, too far. Bull
was there for over an hour! Third day we watched a huge 6x6 P&Y
bull in a clear cut. We went after him. Wayne called him in to 20
yards, he slipped around us and winded us, and still came in closer
to see us. No shot. Fourth day Wayne spotted a herd of cows and
a nice 6x6 bull in a clear cut. He took me to the top of the trail,
then went down and chased three moose and the elk to me. The cows
ran by me at 10 feet, winded me, and came back by me at 5 feet.
I thought I was dead. The bull stayed behind a tree at 25 yards.
He ran and I shot at 35 yards. I didn't lead him enough. Fifth day
Wayne called in a 4x4 bull and I shot him at 20 yards. He is not
as large as the others but he will taste good. This is my fifth
hunt with Wayne Hill for elk and deer. I have always seen lots of
game, and taken lots of meat and horns home. Great food, accommodations,
and people. If you want a big elk, this is the place, but be in
good physical shape; these are steep, densly wooded mountains, not
the rolling hills of Colorado. I will be back for one of those big
boys I saw!

Third time with this outfit was a charm - more opportunities this
hunt than 5 other archery hunts combined. Saw 11 bulls in 8 days.
Let three arrows go - 2 major screw ups and one tree. Pope and Young
bull 1st day - blew easy shot at 14 paces - did not hit vitals.
Sixth day, 4x4 tried to walk over me; put arrow through the upper
neck - no damage to bull, only my pride. Later same morning trapped
between 2 bulls - got shot at raghorn, tree intercepted arrow. Hunt
of a lifetime with chances of a lifetime - lots of cake but I didn't
provide the icing - NO EXCUSES! As usual, good food, friendly atmosphere,
Good Lord willing, wife permitting, I'll be back for the fourth
hunt.

My second time with Wayne Hill. A great place to bow hunt elk. Saw
many elk. Drew and let off on two 6x6 at 40 yards. Second large
elk at 50 yards. Third large elk at 6 yards. But no shots. Great
hunts. Will be back again for third time. Bravo to Annette and her
cooking.

Guided by Larry Riddering
This is my second time hunting with Wayne & staff. I was guided
by Larry who did above and beyond what you expect of a good guide.
We saw a total of 9 bulls in 8 days of hunting. On third day was
closest shot at 4x5 raghorn (which sneaked in on us) at 20 yards
but didn't come out from tree line any further than his head. Continued
seeing elk every day. Last hunting day was a great experience calling
and stalking a huge 6x6 for 5-6 hours while getting into 2 other
bulls in same class. We got within 35 yards of large bull but too
much brush. I came to hunt elk with bow and got more than I bargained
for. It was just great. Annette & Wayne provided great food
as usual and a great staff to go along with it. Don't know when
I'll be back, but "I will return". Get your legs in shape
and get ready to bowhunt hard. If you wish to get one, the bulls
are here. Thanks again Wayne & Annette & a great crew. See
Ya.

Third hunt with Wayne & Annette. Excellent job by Jason. Saw
13 bulls in six days of hunting. Ten bulls within 50 yards. Sixth
day, Jason bugled 6x6 to 20 yards. One shot with recurve. Bull ran
less that 100 yards and died. Excellent hunt. Very physical. Also
bear hunted for three days. Saw 4 bear. Passed on one bear - too
small. No shots at other bear. Guided by Joe & Jacob Sanchez
for bear. Excellent job by guides. Best vacation I ever had. Will
be back next year!
Clay Behm, Waynesburg, PA (412) 883-2506 (wk) hunted 9/15-9/25
Guided by Jason Hill & Ken Trontell
I was guided by Ken Trontell for first six days. He got bulls to
answer every day. He brought 2 bulls within 35 yards. No shots.
Rain and swirling winds first 4 days made things difficult. I was
fortunate enough to be guided by the "'big boss" Wayne
Hill himself two mornings. He got me in on 5 different bulls, two
within 35 yards. Also worked other bulls. Wayne is undoubtedly the
best professional hunter I've ever seen. He stalks with the stealth
of an efficient predator. I extended my hunt and was guided by Jay
Hill for the rest of my stay. Jay did a top notch job of working
more bulls than I can count. I saw 3 bulls within 35 yards. No shots.
I hunted with a recurve and limited myself to only take shots in
my comfort zone of 25 yards or less. I was very close to shooting
several times, but bulls wouldn't let it happen. Everyone at Wayne
Hill Outfitting is hard working and honest. Food and lodging great.
I'll be back again next year. Thanks everyone! Call for information;
I can't squeeze it all in this space!

Guided by Jay Hill & Larry Riddering
My sixth hunt with Wayne's outfit. First two days guided by Larry
Riddering. Heard three bulls first day. No interest. Second day
had a big bull in but was in a brush field. No shot. Two other bulls
were fighting and bugling while we tried for the big one. Very close,
but not close enough. Third day guided by Jay "the elk magnet"
Hill. Al "the rainmaker" Cramer wished for rain to cool
things down. We got it. Jay "the magnet" and I went for
a walk in the rain. An hour and a half later a bull came in silent
to 15 yards. Came down the trail straight down to me. Had to stare
him down for what seemed like half an hour. He turned to leave and
gave me the opportunity to shoot. Managed a good shot to the heart.
Was down within a hundred yards. Great job by Jay and Larry. Super
food and accommodations by Wayne & Annette. Another great hunt.
Would rate hunt a "10". Always enjoy hunting with Wayne's
outfit.

First day Wayne called in two bulls, a 6x6 and a smaller bull. They
stayed in brush and would not come close enough for a shot. Second
day Wayne had six or eight bulls going but they wouldn't come in.
Weather was hot, so I made comment "almost makes you wish for
rain". The next two days it rained. I should have kept quiet...the
bulls sure did. Fifth day Wayne called in a 3x3 bull and I shot
him at 5 yards OR Wayne's measurement of 6½ grunt tubes. This was
my fifth hunt with Wayne and I have always seen alot of game and
have always had a very enjoyable hunt. The food and accommodations
were excellent as always. If you want to see a lot of game and have
a very enjoyable hunt, here is the place to be. I will be back to
get my big one and have it mounted!
Jim Sanchez, Littleton, CO (303) 972-0443 hunted 9/23-10/1
Guided by Joseph & Jacob Sanchez
Hunted for eight days for bear and elk. Shot nice black bear on
6th day. Had elk answer calls every day. One day had 5 bulls going
at once. Being an avid elk hunter in Colorado I can honestly say
I have never been so close to so many bulls as I have here. Wayne
& Annette have an outstanding operation which includes great
food and very knowledgeable guides. Be in shape; this is steep,
tough terrain. Will be back next year.
